Our Research Methodology

Every guide on NagrikIQ is built from official government sources, verified for accuracy, and written in plain language so every Indian citizen can understand their rights and options. Here is exactly how we do it.

How We Research

We follow a strict five-step process for every piece of content we publish. No shortcuts. No guesswork. If we cannot verify something from an official source, we do not publish it.

1

Source

We begin by identifying the authoritative government portal for the topic. For central government services, this means official .gov.in domains. For state-specific services, we identify the relevant state government portals. We never start from third-party aggregators, news articles, or other websites.

2

Verify

We cross-check every fact โ€” eligibility criteria, required documents, fees, timelines, and portal URLs โ€” against multiple official sources where possible. If official sources conflict, we note the discrepancy and flag the information as potentially variable. We pay special attention to fee amounts and income thresholds because these change frequently.

3

Simplify

Government documents are written in formal, often dense language. Our writers translate this into plain Hindi and English that any citizen with a basic education can understand. We avoid jargon, use numbered steps, and break complex processes into manageable actions. We never alter the meaning or omit conditions in this simplification step.

4

Review

Before publication, every guide goes through an internal review for factual accuracy, completeness, and clarity. We check that every link points to a live .gov.in URL, that all fees and eligibility criteria match the source, and that the step-by-step instructions can actually be followed by a first-time applicant.

5

Update

Publishing is not the end of our process โ€” it is the beginning of an ongoing commitment. We monitor official government portals, press information bureau releases, and ministry notifications for changes to the services we cover. When changes occur, we update the relevant guides promptly according to our update policy described below.

Our Sources

We use only primary government sources. Below is the authoritative portal for each category of service we cover. When a service is state-administered, we use the relevant state government portal in addition to any central portal.

Central Government (General)

  • india.gov.in โ€” National Portal of India
  • mygov.in โ€” Citizen engagement platform
  • pib.gov.in โ€” Press Information Bureau

Income Tax

  • incometax.gov.in โ€” Official IT Department portal

EPFO / Provident Fund

  • epfindia.gov.in โ€” Employees' Provident Fund Organisation

  • eci.gov.in โ€” Election Commission of India
  • voters.eci.gov.in โ€” Voter registration portal

  • ecourts.gov.in โ€” eCourts Services
  • main.sci.gov.in โ€” Supreme Court of India

Land Records

  • dilrmp.gov.in โ€” Digital India Land Records Modernisation Programme
  • State Bhulekh portals (e.g., bhulekh.up.nic.in, bhunaksha.gov.in)

Ration Card / PDS

  • nfsa.gov.in โ€” National Food Security Act portal
  • State Food & Civil Supplies (FCS) department portals

Passport

  • passportindia.gov.in โ€” Official Passport Seva portal

Certificates (Caste, Income, Domicile, etc.)

  • State e-district portals (e.g., edistrict.up.gov.in, edistrict.mp.gov.in)
  • Revenue department portals of respective states

What We Don't Do

Our credibility depends on what we refuse to do as much as what we commit to doing. These are our firm boundaries:

โœ—

We never copy content from other websites, blogs, or aggregators. Every guide is written from scratch using primary government sources.

โœ—

We never make up fees, income thresholds, or eligibility criteria. If the official portal does not state a specific figure, we say so explicitly.

โœ—

We never claim to be government officials, government representatives, or affiliated with any ministry or department.

โœ—

We never ask for your personal information such as Aadhaar number, PAN, bank account details, or any other sensitive data. NagrikIQ does not process applications on your behalf.

โœ—

We never publish content that we have not been able to verify against at least one official .gov.in source.
