⚠️Common Problems & Solutions

Application rejected — income certificate shows income above ₹2.5 lakh
If the family's actual income is ₹2.5 lakh or below, obtain a fresh income certificate from the Tahsildar. Certificates should reflect agricultural income, business income, and salary income accurately. If the rejection was in error, you can re-apply with the corrected income certificate or appeal to the district DCDO office.
Bank account is not in my name — payment failing
Open a savings account in your own name at any bank (Jan Dhan account is free). Ensure it is Aadhaar-linked (visit bank for NPCI seeding). Then update your bank account details in the Ladki Bahin portal at ladakibahin.maharashtra.gov.in → 'Bank Details Update'. Future payments will go to the new account.
Husband is in a government job but wife (applicant) is not — is she eligible?
If the husband is a permanent government employee, the family is excluded regardless of the wife's employment status. This is because the income threshold and government employee exclusion applies to the family as a whole. If the husband is a contract/casual worker for government, check with the district DCDO for current interpretation.
Payment not credited in October despite being approved since August
Check bank account status (active, Aadhaar-linked, no dormancy). Check payment status at ladakibahin.maharashtra.gov.in. Sometimes the state releases payments in batches — there may be a 1–2 month lag. If more than 2 months since approval with no payment, call the helpline 1800-233-2299 or visit the district WCD office.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q.Is Maharashtra Ladki Bahin different from MP Ladli Behna?

Yes. Maharashtra Ladki Bahin Yojana and Madhya Pradesh Ladli Behna Yojana are separate state government schemes with similar concepts but different administration. Ladki Bahin is for Maharashtra women aged 21–60, paying ₹1,500/month. Ladli Behna is for MP women aged 21–60, also ₹1,500/month. They are not interchangeable — you must apply in the state where you reside.

Q.Can single/unmarried women apply?

The scheme primarily targets married women but also covers widows and divorced women. Eligibility for unmarried women may depend on current guidelines — check the scheme's latest notification at ladakibahin.maharashtra.gov.in. Some camp registrations have accepted single adult women meeting income criteria.

Q.How are payments made — through PFMS or directly?

Payments are made through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) via PFMS (Public Financial Management System) to Aadhaar-linked bank accounts. The state government initiates bulk payment orders which go through PFMS and then reach individual bank accounts. You receive an SMS credit alert when payment is made.

Q.I moved from UP to Maharashtra 5 years ago — am I eligible?

You must be a Maharashtra resident with a valid address proof in Maharashtra. If you have been living in Maharashtra for 5 years and have a Maharashtra ration card and Aadhaar with MH address, you are eligible to apply. Recent migrants may face scrutiny on domicile proof — a ration card in Maharashtra is the most reliable proof.

Q.Will the ₹1,500 be increased to ₹2,100 as announced?

The Maharashtra government announced plans to increase the amount to ₹2,100 per month. As of June 2026, check the latest government notification at ladakibahin.maharashtra.gov.in for the current amount. Announcements may have been implemented since the scheme's initial launch.
